WCEET Funding Update
Tuesday, 15 June 2010
It has been a busy 4 months for the Trust. Thirteen new projects in the Waikato Catchment were approved funding which include fencing and planting; wetland, water quality, gamebird habitat and trout population enhancement; fish passage and major group sponsorship of Waikato RiverCare. The 2010 projects are throughout the Waikato Catchment from Turangi to Pokeno and the Trust is looking forward to watching them progress.
Since March a total of $370,000 has been paid to funding recipients. Major works include two Fish and Game projects, Ohaaki Wetland Project and the Eastern Whangamarino Wetland Restoration. These projects have created valuable wetlands and provided increased biodiversity in the area. Other projects such as the South Taupo Wetlands, Pukawa Wildlife Management, Progress to Health and Tui 2000 have continued providing ecological benefits to a wide area.
